Miss Stacey

1986 - 2010

On Sunday 28th February, Miss Stacey was involved in a road accident. An air ambulance was called and she was taken to hospital. She had been in hospital since the accident, and the doctors and nurses did all they could to save her life, but her injuries were too severe and she tragically passed away.

Miss Stacey was the teacher in Red Class (Year 2) and well known throughout the school for being a smiley teacher. Everybody loved her; everyone thought she was a delight, such a hard working and giving. The whole school community is shocked and devastated. We have lost a lovely teacher, colleague, and friend. She showed much promise and she will be sadly missed.

Remembering Miss Stacey

On Wednesday 24th March 2010 we held a special assembly to think about, remember, and say goodbye to Miss Stacey. Children, staff, and families came to school in bright spring colours, bringing lovely bouquets and bunches of flowers, and the hall was decorated with bright bunting and balloons and there were beautiful flowers all around.

Ms Townson welcomed everyone, and Mrs Harding recounted how Miss Stacey made her feel. Gail read out a poem about Miss Stacey and read the messages that were written in cards about Miss Stacey. The messages were all lovely and made you smile. Mr Flehman came over from Ireland to pay tribute to Miss Stacey; he was a student teacher on placement at Viking in Red Class (The children are now in Silver Class). He told us how they first met at university, and the first time he saw Miss Stacey's smile. He said how you could never be unhappy with Miss Stacey as she was always cracking jokes until you were smiling too.

Lots of children read out their special thoughts and memories of Miss Stacey and spoke out so clearly (Their messages will be put onto this page as soon as possible). Platinum Class produced a PowerPoint presentation about Miss Stacey, and had a short quiz about her. They also had a video for us all to watch (Link will be provided as soon as possible).

The whole school sang a favourite song of Miss Stacey’s, which was a very happy song, and made you all smile while singing.

Our special assembly ended with a time to reflect on special thoughts and memories of Miss Stacey and listen to her favourite music.

It was a very special assembly to remember a very special friend, colleague, and teacher...

Miss Stacey, remembered always in our hearts...

When we remember...

You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived...

You can close your eyes and pray she'll come back, or you can open your eyes and she all she's left...

Your heart can be empty because you can't see her, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday...

You can remember her and only that she's gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on...

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, or you can do what she'd want;

Smile...

Open your eyes...

Love...

And go on...
